October 2014 Meeting – Patrick Yeung

30 Oct

For our October meeting we had the pleasure of meeting Patrick Yeung, a local ceramic artist who specializes in tableware.

Patrick was a student in the College Institute of Advanced Learning ceramic program (http://sheridanceramics.com/). Upon graduation he worked as an apprentice with Scott Barnim Pottery (http://scottbarnimpottery.com/) in Dundas, and as of 2009 shares studio space in Toronto.

A first generation Canadian, whose family has strong roots in the food service industry. Patrick’s pieces are strongly influenced by traditional Cantonese design, his work in restaurants and his love of food.

His strong clean lines, use of slip, celadon, wood ash and black stain glaze have helped distinguish his style.

Patrick was a 2014 TOAE (http://www.torontooutdoorart.org/) winner and will be participating in the One of a Kind Show (http://www.oneofakindshow.com/toronto/index.php). We wish him well in his ceramic career and look forward to seeing where his journey will lead him next.

You can learn more about Patrick and view both his student and current work at his website: http://patrickyeungceramics.wordpress.com and his blog: http://patrickyeungceramics.blogspot.ca/
