May 26, 2015 Meeting – More than Just an AGM!!

11 May

On May 26 Toronto Potters will be having their last meeting of the season, with their AGM & Potluck Celebration

krisIn addition, they will also be paying tribute to Kristine Magidsohn. Kristine, an avid ceramic collector and acclaimed potter in her own right, died while visiting with family in Bangalore, India.

She is sadly missed by her colleagues and potter friends. A loving tribute from her son can be found online at http://www.jonmagidsohn.com/home/moms-eulogy/.

Kris Magidsohn was a long-time supporter of the ceramics community. She was a member of the Potters Studio, a member of Toronto Potters, where she served as President 1998-2000, a volunteer for the Gardiner Museum in the Gardiner Shop, and a member of both FUSION: The Ontario Clay and Glass Association and NCECA.

Kris often participated in the Toronto Potters and FUSION sales where she retailed her colourful hand-built pottery. Her private pottery collection consisted of works she collected locally, from the FUSION conferences and from the popular Mug Sales, an international fundraising event at NCECA.

Part of her collection of ceramics has been donated to Toronto Potters. We have decided to put up some of the pieces as items in a silent auction at our AGM and will be selling other pieces at future events as well. All monies raised will be used to develop a special program that will honour Kristine’s memory in ongoing basis.

Here’s a sneak preview of just a few of the items that will be available at our silent auction. Be sure to bring your wallets, cheque books and credit cards too. 🙂
