Introducing Brenda Nieves: Show and Sale 2016

4 Dec

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” Edgar Degas

Nieves’ clay and glaze pieces are a tangible expression of her vision of a inspired natural world. Excursions into the wilderness that started as a youth continue into the present, infusing fuel into her creative life. The impetus for her to create art full-time is her desire to make life precious for both herself and those who engage with her work.

Brenda Nieves is an emerging artist working in multiple mediums in her studio in the Junction. Nieves worked as designer of Children’s fashion, Fashion Director and Real Estate Developer.

Nieves is presently studying at Sheridan College of Craft and Design. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions at the Gardiner Museum, Gas Gallery, Casa Loma, Art Square Gallery, WARC, Central Gallery, Black Cat Gallery, Stratford Art in the Park and Women’s Art Association. In her 1st juried show, Nieves recently received the Pottery Supply House award for her work, presented by the Toronto Potters at the Gardiner Museum.

See a selection of Nieves’ work at the Toronto Potters Winter Show and Sale, December 8-10, at the Toronto Botanical Garden, 777 Lawrence Ave E (at Leslie). FREE admission and parking.
